MARIN ART SCHOOL
Student Show
September 14, 2009 - January 18, 2010

Marin Art School students draw and paint from life.
Represented on these walls is the work of students who have traveled a path of learning drawing and painting in black and white, through line, mass and value, then translating that information into painting in the colorist tradition.
You may follow that path with us by starting with the black and white drawings and paintings (the beginning), to the color block studies (beginning color), exploring color through landscape, still life, and portrait (advanced), and finally the advanced students who now exhibit and sell their work as they continue to evolve.
We have also included pieces from owners and instructors Dorallen Davis and Jane Heaphy, as well as substitute teachers Kay Carlson and Carol Myer.
Marin Art School has joined together, with Marin Arts Council to better prepare students to enter the marketing side of art. In doing so the school has procured a well known artist, Zach Lawson to jury all of the students work for this show. Zach has studied with the Art Institute of Southern Ca (4 years), Florence Academy of Art (4 years as well as Spain and now lives in San Francisco. You will find his piece hanging with the instructors.
